董潔行為藝術展2014年4月15日-30日在上苑藝術館進行




前言

Dong Jie sees the lot of women in China as requiring careful and traditionally misogynist-oriented daily performances of being-a-woman in everyday life. Her artwork usually embody or typify women’s roles in society.

藝術家是思索自身存在的一類人,藝術作品是我們思索結果的表達,展覽就是這種表達面向社會的呈現。

這次的展覽呈現我對自身女性身份存在的長期思索的一次自我總結與完善。旨在提出我個人的觀察與思慮結果能引起社會各界對女性健康、生存定義、思想情感等各方面更為廣泛也更深層次地關注和思考。

這些思考不是“逞強”的女權主義——報復式的附加男性負擔以示抗爭;也不是“示弱”的女性主義——以“本質主義的作品” 展示普遍女性生物性的觀念;而是展示中國普遍女性現狀;是對此提出的反思與發問。

從女性身體——我自己的身體作為原點出發。因為女性的身體并不像男性那樣為自己提供了一個可轉述的第二自我(aler ego)。相反由于生理的原因,絕大多數時候,對于絕大多數女性來講,身體給自己造成了種種限定和苦痛——身體是負擔、是累贅、是障礙、是矛盾的,它會給她帶來種種困擾,使她終其一生都在努力嘗試著與它共處;也是統一的,它與她都同時是另一個相對立的群體——男性的觀察物,男性通過它認知她,通過對她的認知而對它提出要求,她也在與他的相處中不時地改造著它。基于此她與它之間有著很多很多層面上的情感故事。從而有了“Verounique”——一個代表女性形象的符號,一個被男性觀看的客觀審美對象。在這被觀看的過程中,她的情感、她的意識、她的思想被統統地抹去。她從中消失,轉而成其物,以她的身體的形態呈現的物,也就是說只剩它——她的身體。

《無印良品》通過對內衣褲在女人體上留下的印痕做細致入微的、科學切片式的、客觀的、事實性的記錄與展示,體現了女性與其身體的其中一組矛盾:她為它加上束縛,對它造成傷害,他自己也不能也吃得到什么,而這是為什么?出于怎樣的目的?仔細地探究將發現這里面文化的、社會的、意識形態的、世俗的......多重層面上的因素。

作品《Verounique》表現了這一點:我將身體擺弄成種種具有誘惑性的造型;拍攝下來;又又加工成艷麗、誘人、色情的顏色;再翻拍成圖像;并刻意模糊制造翻拍與原畫得得差異性,以體現她只是一件令人賞心悅目的觀看品——它而存在。

《閨風》則是體現她與它之間種種情感故事的其中一種——自戀。她處于私密空間時,對它的自我欣賞、自我戀慕,是她與它單獨共處時流露出的情感,因而這一系列所有的圖片是在這樣的前提環境下以這樣的情感源泉完成,又在展示時特意還原這樣的環境以使之主題更為突出。

在展出過程中同時進行與觀眾互動行為藝術,并在閉幕時有“舞踏”——日本現代舞——使展覽的形式更豐富內容更多樣。

在當前的中國男權社會,一旦談到女性的話題,就會遭到男性仿佛是“正邪不兩立”地抵制,而女權的問題更是會被視作男權的敵對勢力,因而使得女性為自己發言的機會亦會被剝奪。而這次的作品既不是討論女性的也不是關于女權的,只是借以藝術的方式讓觀眾了解到女性與自身身體的關系,說出這話題,讓觀眾了解到一個既非女性也非女權、不在男權所留意的范疇、亦會時而被女性所忽略的、女性世界的其中一個方面。愿望此次讓觀眾對這一群體有更多的關注、了解。

The Artists are the people who thinking about object being, and the art work is to express the result of our thinking. And the exhibition presents the expression to the society. This exhibition will express my thought on my existing as a female in a long term, and I want to mention my inspection result to people in all fields and they pay attention to female health, existing meaning, thoughts and emotion.

These thoughts are not feminism, neither struggling as revenge to increase male’s burden nor in the idea of naturalism to show female biological elements. I want to show Chinese Women’s common situation, doubting and thinking on it.

As a female, I set out from my body for it doesn’t offer alter ego to paraphrase himself, on the opposite, body is burden, barren, additional thing, and inconsistent, and most of the female’s body limits herself and hurts herself painfully because of biological reasons. The body, it will bring her kinds of disturbing and confusions to make herself always trying to get along with it all her life. On the other side, both of them-the body and female herself- are the objects inspected by the male. A male knows her through it and requests her through knowing it, meanwhile, she is changing it continuously during living with him. There are a lot of emotional stories based on the relationships between her and her body, then Veronique, a symbol standing for female is born, an aesthetic object inspected by male. In the duration of been inspected, her emotion, her consciousness and her thoughts are erased, she disappeared and the body is appearing , that means nothing left but her body, the object.

Shapeless Goods expressed a group of contradictions between female and her body through factual detailed objective recording and exhibiting the pressing shapes of underwear. She limits it and hurts it, but she cannot get anything by doing that, what’s the reason why she does so? I will look for the answer in many fields: society, culture, ideology, common sense and so on.

Veronique is to show this point: I photograph my body in epigamic gestures and color it bright gorgeous and pornographic, then re-photograph it and enlarge the difference between original photographs and the re-photographed image to identify it as a visual object to pleasuring people.

Boudoir Style is to express narcissism which also is one story between her and her body. In the private space, she appreciates her body and loves it only if she gets along with it privately. This series of photographs finished in the emotion occurring in a particular situation, so I try to restore such a situation while exhibiting it.

In the exhibition I will interact with the audiences to join in performance together. And there will be a Butob show -Japanese modern dance- to make the exhibition more active and diversified.

In the patriarchy society, the feminism topic will be strongly resisted by the male and considered as the hostile power. As a result, the female will be deprived the right of speaking for themselves. In this exhibition, my art works are neither talking about female nor feminine right, but making the audiences to know the relationship between female and her body by art. Talking about this topic to make the female world which beyond patriarchy and sometimes ignored by female, neither female nor feminism, come to meet the audiences.

Hope this exhibition will make the audience know more about this group of people.
