“上苑藝術館”，你是干什么的？！
What does Shangyuan Art Museum do?
2000年在籌備與創立上苑藝術館時，主旨是為有潛力的藝術家提供一個創作空間、交流空間、廣泛結交同類人的機會；各國藝術家可以向身邊的外國藝術家學習，并獲得觸發自己創作的另一種可能性，同時還可以促進跨界藝術的合作 ……。這些年的確取得了非常多的成果。
但是某些藝術家對上苑的期望超出了這個范圍，有人想獲得更多上苑提供不了的東西。有人想從這里一鳴驚人，并不是靠自己的作品，而是靠某種方式的抄作（如喊口號：讓當代藝術滾蛋、如宣告何時要流火，如誰的魂死了要招回……），或想獲得某種自身水平還不夠的身份（如：策展人、批評家）。
我期待看到對藝術懷著純凈態度的人更多出現，一但看到功利心超過了藝術創造力的人在我面前表演時，我就止不住會失望與厭煩。
再次強調：上苑藝術館拒絕媚俗、平庸、急功近利……，提倡創新、探索、真誠，與跨界合作。
When we were preparing for theestablishment of Shangyuan Art Museum, we decided that we wanted to provide aplace for young potential artists to create and socialize. Artists can learnfrom each other Chinese or foreign, to be inspired and to find differentpossibilities. After so many years of practicing, we can say the result is veryfruitful.
But some artists are expecting too muchfrom Shangyuan. Some want something we cannot provide. They want to reach thehighest peak with one shot, and not from their own works, but by exposingthemselves on the media or coming up with some shocking slogans (e.g. f**kcontemporary art, or summon the spirit of the dead and etc.) or wanting to gaina title they are not capable enough to maintain (curator, critic).
We want to see artists with sinceritytowards art. Anyone who has a heart more to the fame and profit other than artitself stands in front of us, we feel disappointment and boredom.
We have to stress this again that ShangyuanArt Museum is a place for sincere artists who want to explore and create newart and extend the boundary of different forms of art, not a place formediocrity and greed for fame and profit.

“國際創作計劃”是上苑藝術館的常設項目，每年免費提供40－50人的工作室及宿舍。
從2007年開始，每年進駐上苑藝術館的藝術家包括：裝置、行為、詩歌、油畫、雕塑、水墨、聲音藝術、多媒體、影像、舞臺……等，由上苑藝術館免費提供二層摟房一百平米左右獨立的生活與創作空間,另外有圖書館、作品討論空間、兩個大展覽廳、露天電影活動場地、餐廳公共空間、無線網絡……6000多平方米，均免費提供給入選的駐館藝術家進行為期七個月（每年的4月初至11月初）的創作與交流。
我們倡導“具有創造性與詩性語言特質的，和藝術家生存的現在相關的生命體驗為創作準則的各類藝術創新”，發現在野的優秀藝術創作者。跨界的藝術交流能使在館藝術家，從各種不同門類的藝術創作中吸吮原創力，從而擴大視野、刺激感觀、完成對自己的挖掘與發現。
申請與選拔：
（一）、申請方式：推薦和自薦（任何個人，年齡、學歷、國家地區與民族均不限）
(1) 推薦：所有上苑藝術館藝術委員會的成員可以推薦二人進入候選；
(2) 自薦：自薦者可直接將相關申報材料送達上苑藝術館辦公郵箱：(ssyuan@126.com )。
（二）、申請時間：每年7－12月；
（三）、評審投票時間：12月評審第一批；
（四）、公布名單時間：第二年1月公布第一批。第二年3月補充審核并公布第二批。
（五）、入駐時間：次年4月7日－10月30日；
（六）提交文件：申請人須向上苑藝術委員會先用電子方式（ssyuan@126.com）
提交以下文件：
A、作品電子圖片十張（jpg格式，圖片名稱中注明材質、名稱、尺寸、時間），發壓縮包；
B、個人照片1張，身份證影印件；
C、申請人簡歷、作品闡釋（word格式）；
D、自薦或推薦書、《申請書》（word格式）。
評審程序：
上苑藝術館組織評審小組，對自薦作品進行初評，初評勝出者進入候選程序。藝術委員會成員推薦的藝術家直接進入候選；
所有候選人作品和相關資料要在上苑藝術館網站上公開展示二周，以接受來自各方的評審意見與信息。
每年十二月由上苑藝術館常務委員及往屆駐館藝術家們參與投票，以獲票數最高的前三十至三十五名藝術家為準，邀請進駐藝術館內創作。
Shangyuan Art Scene Will Offer Free Studios, Apartments and Exhibition Spaces for You
Our aim is to discover and promote talented art practitioners. We encourage art pertaining to one’s own existence and life experience, distinguished by creativity and poetic quality. We would like to choose 10 artists each year to participate in our residency program, which runs from March to October. We do not restrict your age, education background, nationality or ethnic group. We only require that you should be the creator of the paintings, sculptures, architecture designs or other art forms which you submit. This fact will be affirmed by no less than three committee members of Shangyuan Art Scene.
The first step of application is to recommend oneself or be recommended by others. You should present your personal resume and the application for joining the program; meanwhile you should send us ten digitalized pieces of your works through email or DVD/CD disc. After confirmation by the committee of Shangyuan Art Scene, we will offer you free spaces to work, live and exhibit for seven months. After these seven months, we will organize a symposium which will also include exhibition, publication and criticism of your works.
To introduce yourself, you can send your books, information on your works and resume to the office of Shangyuan Art Scene. Or you can record your personal information in JPG form and spend to us by email to ssyuan@126.com. Please archive your document with both pictures and words. The time to accept application is from now on to Dec 27th.
Members of Shangyuan Art Scene Committee, their recommendation will be high on our list of priorities.

Bird’s Nest Cultural Center has 15,000 square meters’ construction area. It is an important component of the architectural space of Bird’s Nest. The cultural center, based upon the architectural characters of the National Stadium/Bird’s Nest, strong Olympic spirit and unique brand culture, is now completing the role as a high end facility for cultural events and conferences which Bird’s Nest lacks as an outdoor sport stadium.
