謹代表明尼蘇達大學藝術系的名義,我想邀請你來我們學校，作為2011年秋季明尼蘇達大學和北京北上苑現代藝術館交換計劃的一部分。我們兩個機構的合作開始于去年冬天上苑藝術館館長程小蓓和眾多藝術家在安高夫人的陪伴下對我校的訪問。我曾榮幸地參觀上苑藝術館，當時我是被邀請去參觀駐館藝術家的作品并介紹我自己的作品。我發現每一個住館藝術家都富有才能并充滿了投身藝術的決心。對于明尼蘇達大學的藝術家們來說，能夠提供尋求自己作為一個藝術家的發展和文化交流的機會的駐館計劃是非常難得的機會。
三名來自明尼蘇達大學的藝術家在這個夏天將會到上苑現代藝術館，這是一個令人激動的時刻。我仍然為北京北上苑現代藝術館為成熟的和新生的中國藝術家提供必要的支持印象深刻。我們在你們的駐館計劃和我們藝術系之間看到了許多非常有前途的可能性，這將會是我們這一地區最優秀的本科和研究生的公共藝術計劃之一。

On behalf of the Department of Art at the University of Minnesota,I would like to invite you to visit our campus in Fall 2011 as part of the continuing art-exchange project between UMN and the Beijing North Shangyuan Modern Art Museum.Our evolving collaboration began last Spring when artist and Museum Director Chen Xiaobei visited our campus with Mrs.Anne Kao.Later,during the Fall of 2010,I had the pleasure of visiting Beijing North Shangyuan Modern Art Museum where I was invited to make studio visits to see the work of the resident artists and to give an artist’s talk about my work.I found each of the artists to be very talented and dedicated.It was clear that this would be a wonderful context for artists from UMN to experience an artist residency that would offer time to pursue their development as artists and to engage in an extraordinary cultural exchange as well.
This is a particularly exciting moment as three artists from the University of Minnesota will travel to Shangyuan Modern Art Museum this summer.I continue to be deeply impressed by the mission of the Beijing North Shangyuan Modern Art Museum to provide established and emerging Chinese artists with the support necessary to pursue their work.We see many promising possibilities for exchanges between your program and our art department,which is one of the finest undergraduate and graduate public art programs in the region.
We are delighted that you will be visiting UMN and recognize that your selection is the result of your impressive art portfolio and recommendations from Museum Director Chen Xiaobei.There would be several goals for your visit.First,We would like to continue to develop an artist exchange program between Beinjing North Shangyuan Modern Art Museum artists and University of Minnesota,Department of Art faculty and students.We believe that such an exchange would be beneficial for both our programs.Such an exchange will give Chinese artists such as you the opportunity to experience the work of contemporary artists in the United States while providing an opportunity for American artists to experience the work of and cultural dialogue with contemporary Chinese artists.
Second,we invite you give a one-hour presentation on your work while on campus.We will arrange a reception associated with the presentation.Finally,your visit will allow you to learn more about the vibrant art scene in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis-Saint Paul.
