The Shangyuan International Residency Program has been running for sixteen years since 2007. From April to the end of October, the Shangyuan Art Museum accommodates artists from China and abroad. Artists come to work and to exchange ideas and stories. They bring a range of techniques and methods, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, art instillations, video, and performance art. During the residency period, artists organize special group, double, and solo shows of their own. This closing exhibition of 2023 presents works completed since the opening exhibition in May.
Two large group shows were held this year. The first was “Superstructuralism Group Exhibition” curated by Tang Jun and Zhan Mingzhao. Forty-four artists from around the world explored themes of multiple perspectives and universes; this included changing ideas of space and the influence of quantum mechanics. The second group show was “The Property of a Flower: Women’s Art Exhibition,” an invitational exhibition curated by Han Shuying. Twenty-two women used their artworks to express what a flower can represent and symbolize today; they communicated the value of natural life in its various moments and environments.
In the double exhibitions, Yao Li Shuang and Wei An filled the exhibition hall with paintings. They interpreted movement through nature and architectural spaces experienced in their cycling trips from Beihai to many regions of China. Qu Xiaoheng and Micco created thoughtful spaces in paintings which were hung alongside the labyrinth on the upper floor of the hall. For the solo exhibitions, Tang Jun continued work on ideas about spaces and different perspectives. Luo Yinglong, a performance artist at Shangyuan, contributed his solo show on suffering and compassion.
This closing exhibition serves as a summary of work by artists during the residency program. Artists who participated at Shangyuan will apply their experiences and continue to engage in practices of cultural communication and exchange. This contribution by artists is an important benefit locally and globally.
自2007年以來(lái)，上苑藝術(shù)館國(guó)際駐館計(jì)劃已經(jīng)運(yùn)行了十六年。每年的4月到10月底，上苑藝術(shù)館接待來(lái)自中國(guó)和國(guó)外的藝術(shù)家。藝術(shù)家們前來(lái)工作，交流思想和故事。他們帶來(lái)了各種技巧和方法，包括繪畫(huà)、雕塑、版畫(huà)、藝術(shù)裝置、視頻和表演藝術(shù)。在駐留期間，藝術(shù)家們組織了他們自己的特別團(tuán)體展覽、雙人展覽和個(gè)展。2023年的閉幕展覽將呈現(xiàn)自五月開(kāi)幕展覽以來(lái)藝術(shù)家們完成的作品。
今年舉辦了兩次大型的團(tuán)體展覽。第一次是由湯軍和詹明昭策劃的《超結(jié)構(gòu)主義群展》。來(lái)自世界各地的44位藝術(shù)家探討了多重視角和宇宙的主題，包括空間觀念的變化和量子力學(xué)的影響。第二個(gè)團(tuán)體展覽是《花朵的屬性：女性藝術(shù)展》，由韓淑縈策劃的邀請(qǐng)展。22位女性用她們的作品表達(dá)了花朵在今天所能代表和象征的意義；她們傳達(dá)了自然生命在不同時(shí)刻和環(huán)境中的價(jià)值。
在雙人展覽中，姚麗雙和韋安用繪畫(huà)填滿了展覽大廳。他們通過(guò)從北海到中國(guó)許多地區(qū)的騎行旅行，詮釋了在自然和建筑空間中體驗(yàn)到的運(yùn)動(dòng)。至于個(gè)展，曲小哼M(jìn)icco在畫(huà)作中創(chuàng)造了深思熟慮的空間，這些畫(huà)作懸掛在大廳上層的迷宮旁。湯軍繼續(xù)探討關(guān)于空間和不同視角的思想。上苑的表演藝術(shù)家羅應(yīng)龍展示了他的有關(guān)苦難與同情的個(gè)展。
